About Me . . .Heather Alvarado, Executive Director
Heather Alvarado received her B.F.A. in Film, Television, and Photography and she holds a M.A in Early Childhood/Elementary Education from New York University. She lived and studied art education abroad attending Oxford University in England and the University of Guadalajara in Mexico. For over ten years Heather was a teacher and full-time faculty member of the Church Street School for Music and Art in New York where she worked with children ages 2 to 12. In addition she was the Creative Arts Coordinator at the Children's Museum for the Arts in Manhattan. While living in NYC she taught Kindergarten in both private and public schools. It was during this time that Ms. Alvarado started her own private art business, Exploratoria, teaching private art lessons to children in their homes.
In 2002 Heather moved to Colorado where she worked at the Jewish Community Center School in collaboration with Sewell Child Development Center. She taught 3-7 year olds in a special needs immersion classroom. For the next three years she worked with 2, 3, and 4 year olds at the JCC and was chosen by the school's director as an Art Liaison between administrators and teachers.
Cherry Creek Creative Arts is culmination of Heather's dream to inspire creativity, imagination, and encourage children's artistic expression. But most importantly, provide children with a place where they can develop their own skills and create masterpieces of their own.
